No. 31 Men’s Tennis downs Averett for sixth straight

SALISBURY, Md. – The 31st-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team won its sixth straight match to open the season, taking down the Averett Cougars 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the SU Outdoor Tennis Center.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • The Sea Gulls swept the three doubles tilt for the match's first point. Asher Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas (6-2) made quick work of first doubles, while Gianluca Beaujon and Mitchell Desman (7-5) outlasted a tough matchup in second doubles, as did Aron Bursztyn and Gurv Suri [7-6 (7-2)] in third doubles.
  • Willenborg and Suri kept things rolling in their singles matches. Willenborg took care of first singles (6-1, 6-1) over Satwik Kollepalli, while Suri kept Julius Bert at an arm's length in third singles (6-1, 6-3).
  • Nicholas O'Dea (6-4, 6-1) and Maas Jacobs (4-6, 6-4, 10-7) secured the dub for SU from fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
 
The Sea Gulls will have a week off before heading to California for a pair of ranked neutral-site matchups, starting on Monday, Mar. 17, against 25th-ranked Babson. First serve from Claremont, Calif., is slated for 12 p.m. EDT/9 a.m. PDT.
