SALISBURY, Md. – The 29th-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team picked up a key late-season dub against a ranked opponent, topping the 53rd-ranked TCNJ Lions 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the SU Outdoor Tennis Center.
MATCH NOTES
- The Sea Gulls snagged the doubles point by winning two-of-three fixtures. Gianluca Beaujon and Mitchell Desman took care of business in second doubles (6-3), as did Aron Bursztyn and Gurv Suri in third doubles (6-4).
- SU's frontline singles players secured the clinch with three straight-sets victories. Asher Willenborg swept through first singles (6-3, 6-2), while Jhayden Pappas handled second singles (6-2, 6-4), and Suri picked up his second dub of the day in third singles (6-2, 6-1).
- Maas Jacobs [7-6 (7-5), 6-3] battled for the sweep in sixth singles, while Nicholas O'Dea [6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 1-0 (10-5)] sweated it out to win fifth singles.
The Sea Gulls will hit the road for the final time in the regular season on Wednesday with a Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) matchup at 19th-ranked Mary Washington. First serve from Fredericksburg, Va., is set for 3:30 p.m.
