FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The 25th-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team took the fight to its Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) but came up just short, falling to the 19th-ranked Mary Washington Eagles 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Hegmann Family Courts.
MATCH NOTES
- The Sea Gulls captured the first point of the day by rolling through all three doubles tilts. Gianluca Beaujon and Mitchell Desman tore through second doubles, 6-0, while Aron Bursztyn and Gurv Suri easily handled third doubles, 6-2.
- Asher Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas made it three-for-three by pulling out a 7-6 decision in first doubles.
- Willenborg kept rolling through first singles, dispatching Trevor Rein in straight sets (6-1, 6-4).
- Suri and Nicholas O'Dea each won their first sets in third and fifth singles, respectively, before their Eagle foils rallied to win in three sets.
- Maas Jacobs earned a third point for SU in sixth singles, outlasting Albert Vladimirskiy in a three-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 6-7, 10-8.
The Sea Gulls will return home for a pair of matches on Saturday, Apr. 26, against Stevenson at 11 a.m. and No. 24 Christopher Newport at 3 p.m. Before the Stevenson match, SU will honor its five graduating seniors:

Russell Willenborg.
