No. 26 Men’s Tennis corrals Hardin-Simmons, 7-0

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The 26th-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team opened the new month with a familiar result, corralling the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys 7-0 in a Saturday afternoon neutral tilt at Christopher Newport University's Eyre Courts.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • The Sea Gulls swept three doubles matches to win the first point of the showdown. Asher Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas breezed through first doubles (6-2), while Gianluca Beaujon and Mitchell Desman needed a tiebreaker to secure second doubles, 7-6 (7-4), as did Aron Bursztyn and Gurv Suri in third doubles, 7-6 (7-1).
  • Nicholas O'Dea notched the first win of singles play, taking down Maddux Foster in straight sets (6-3, 6-0). Beaujon in fourth singles (6-2, 6-3) and Willenborg in first (6-2, 6-4) won their matches in quick succession to clinch the team victory.
  • Maas Jacobs cruised through sixth singles (6-1, 6-1), and Suri made it five straight-sets singles dubs by taking third with ease (6-3, 6-0).
  • Pappas made it a perfect nine-for-nine for SU, outlasting Nick Boquet to win second singles (6-0, 2-6, 6-2).
 
The Sea Gulls will return home for the first of two straight ranked matchups against No. 60 TCNJ next Sunday. First serve from Salisbury is pegged for 11 a.m.
