SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 8 Salisbury University softball program earned a sweep over John Jay College Saturday afternoon in Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball Stadium, taking game one 5-3 and game two 7-0 on Alumni Day.
In the game one win,
Sydney Adolfson struck out six Bloodhound batters for her 13th win of the season. She only allowed three hits and no earned runs in five innings of work.
At the plate for the Sea Gulls, it was
Carrie Jacoby getting things started with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, scoring
Sam Flowers, who had doubled right before Jacoby. SU would add two more runs in the third after
Emily Challender got on base by being hit by a pitch and coming around to score on an error. Later in the inning, Jacoby would earn another RBI, once again scoring Flowers on a sacrifice fly.
Emily Stockman blasted a solo home run in the fifth for an insurance run as the Sea Gulls secured the 5-3 game one victory.
Game One Notes

Isabella Purdy tallied one strikeout in two innings of work while Adolfson got the win and was credited with the save.
- Flowers posted two hits and two runs.
- John Jay out-hit Salisbury 8-6, but the Sea Gulls capitalized on one extra error from the Bloodhounds
In the game two win,
Justyce Richard tallied another complete game shutout in the circle for the Sea Gulls. Richard only allowed four hits in her seven innings of work, along with three strikeouts.
SU once again scored in the bottom of the first when Em. Stockman earned an RBI single, scoring Challender. In the third, Jacoby roped another home run to extend the lead before
Lexie Delcollo tallied an RBI single, scoring
Ellen Stockman.
The bats stayed hot for SU in the fourth inning, adding three more runs.
Alayna Gigliotti started the inning off with a double and would come around to score on a sacrifice bunt from Flowers. Jacoby would then send her third home run of the day over the left field fence, giving the Sea Gulls a 6-0 lead. El. Stockman would also homer in the fifth to extend the lead.
Game Two Notes
- Jacoby finished with three hits, three RBIs, and two runs.
- While also earning the win in the circle, Richard picked up two hits at the plate.
- The Sea Gulls left eight runners on base while out-hitting the Bloodhounds 9-4.
Salisbury is back in action on Saturday, April 12th, when they travel to Mary Washington for a conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
