ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The seventh-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team rolled to its second easy win of the week, taking down the St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawks 18-11 on Saturday afternoon at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium.
After conceding the opening salvo, the Sea Gulls closed the first quarter with six straight, including four by
Miranda Mears, to go in front 6-1. Salisbury netted two more to open the second quarter before the Seahawks finally stopped the run, but SU won the margin in the period 5-2, taking an 11-3 lead into halftime after a
Carly Hoffman tally.
Mears, Hoffman, and
Lauren Hackett tallied three quick goals to open up the third quarter, but SMC countered with the next five in a row to get within 14-8 at the end of the period. The Sea Gulls punched back with the first four of the fourth quarter to essentially put it away despite a trio of late Seahawk markers that made it 18-11 at the final whistle.
