LOUSIVILLE, Ky. – For the third time in his Sea Gull career,
John DeFazio of the second-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team has landed on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Team of the Week, as announced by the association on Wednesday evening.
DeFazio, a graduate defenseman from Mountain Lakes, N.J., piled up 11 ground balls and caused four turnovers across wins over Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) foes Stockton and fourth-ranked Christopher Newport last week. His best performance came under the brightest lights, digging out seven grounders and causing all four of his week's turnovers against the Captains in Saturday's 12-9 win.
The veteran pole secures his second USILA Team of the Week nod this season, a well-earned accolade for DeFazio who wins 5.38 ground balls and causes 2.38 turnovers per contest. He ranks 33rd nationally in caused turnovers per game and jumped to fourth in Division III since 2010 in career caused turnovers (198).
After this evening's battle with the Eagles of Mary Washington, the Sea Gulls return home to face the St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawks on Tuesday, April 15th. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium.
