Women’s Tennis drops regular season finale to No. 37 UC Santa Cruz

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team endured a 6-1 setback at the hands of the 37th-ranked UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs in their regular season finale on Thursday afternoon at the SU Outdoor Tennis Center.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • Gibelle Beaujon and Olivia Hall fared best in doubles play, battling to a 6-4 defeat in first doubles.
  • Beaujon took the first set of first singles before ultimately bowing to Sara Beckman [5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7)]
  • Lily Muir sweated out a win in third singles for the Sea Gulls' only point, topping Melody Ghaffari in a three-set tiebreaker [2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (16-14)].
 
The Sea Gulls now set their sights on the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Tournament, which begins on Saturday morning in Newport News, Va. Fourth-seeded Salisbury will joust with top-seeded Christopher Newport in a semifinal matchup at 10 a.m.
