Salisbury welcomes Jacobsen as head Volleyball coach

Assistant coach Fischer to join Jacobsen in time for 2025 season

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation Monica Polizzi announced on Wednesday that Kendall Jacobsen has been named the 15th head coach of the Sea Gull volleyball team. Her SU tenure will begin on July 23.

"I'm incredibly excited and honored to become the head volleyball coach at Salisbury University," said Jacobsen. "I can't wait to get started, connect with the team, and build upon the success of this already amazing program. Thank you to Athletic Director Polizzi and Associate Athletic Director Jess Stoltz for the opportunity and their support throughout the process. Salisbury has a tradition of excellence, and I'm excited to help our student-athletes grow as players, leaders, and people."

Jacobsen succeeds Nikki Binetti, who departed to pursue a coaching opportunity at Colorado College in April.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Jacobsen into the Sea Gull Family," said Polizzi. "Our volleyball program has a rich history of success, and I know Coach Jacobsen is the right fit to take us to the next level. She brings an infectious energy, a relentless work ethic, and a true passion for the game. I'm confident she will hit the ground running at SU, and I look forward to all she will bring to our team and community."

Jacobsen arrives at Salisbury after serving as head coach at Husson University since April. Before that, she served as assistant coach at Daytona State College (Fla.) from 2022-24. Over her three seasons on staff in Daytona Beach, the Falcons made three NJCAA regional tournament appearances and qualified for the NJCAA national tournament for the first time in program history. Prior to her stint at Daytona State, Jacobsen was a graduate assistant coach at Frostburg State (2020-22) and an assistant at Davis & Elkins College (2018-20).

A native of Simi Valley, Calif., Jacobsen earned her B.S. in Exercise Science from Davis & Elkins in 2017 and her M.S. in Recreation, Parks, and Sport Management from Frostburg State in 2022. She began her collegiate volleyball career at Moorpark College before playing her final two seasons at Davis & Elkins, appearing in 53 matches for the Senators in 2015 and 2016.

Joining Jacobsen on staff in 2025 is assistant coach Cory Fischer. Fischer previously served as an assistant coach at Muskingum University, helping lead the Fighting Muskies to a six-win improvement during the 2024 season. Fischer was a five-year starter and two-time captain on the Hiram College men's volleyball team, earning Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Libero of the Year honors in 2020 and garnering three All-AMCC honors.

Jacobsen, Fischer, and the Sea Gulls will begin the 2025 season at home, hosting the four-team Margie Knight Classic from Aug. 29-30 at Maggs Physical Activities Center.
