Induction banquet scheduled for Oct. 10 during Homecoming & Family Weekend

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University Department of Athletics and Campus Recreation, in conjunction with the Hall of Fame Committee, is pleased to unveil the six-member Salisbury University Athletics Class of 2025. This centennial year's inductees include Tyler Granelli '13 (Men's Lacrosse), Andre Carter '14 (Football), Anna Hackett '15 (Women's Basketball), Kelly Waskewicz '15 (Softball), and Rachel (Johnson) Wright '15 (Softball). In addition, Len Annetta '94 (Football) has been selected by the university to receive the Hall of Fame Award of Excellence.

The six newest members will be honored during SU's Homecoming and Family Weekend, with a formal banquet and ceremony planned for Friday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Guerreri Academic Commons. Admission to the banquet is $40 for current SU Hall of Fame members, $50 for all other guests, and $10 for children. Ticket prices include a small gift to the Maroon & Gold Club, which supports the university's varsity student-athletes.

Len Annetta
Presented on rare occasion to a university graduate of at least 20 years, the Hall of Fame Award of Excellence is given to an individual who has admirably demonstrated the positive virtutes cultivated during his or her time as a Salisbury University student-athlete in his or her career, bringing honor and dignity to the individual and the university. Annetta becomes only the second recipient of the Award of Excellence, joining 2011 honoree Michael Scarborough.

Still the most prolific passer in Sea Gull football history over 30 years after his graduation, Annetta rewrote the Salisbury State record books during his time under center from 1990-93. A two-time team captain and 1993 team MVP, he established new passing yardage benchmarks for a game (437), season (2,087), and career (5,817). Annetta also maintains records for single-game passing touchdowns (5), completions (30), and attempts (56); single-season attempts (328); and career completions (480) and attempts (990).

After earning his B.S. in Chemistry & Physics in 1994, Annetta returned to SSU and completed his M.A.T. in Secondary Science Education in 1997, later receiving a Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2003. Since then he has pioneered research on distance learning, including the impact of teaching technology on the education of rural and underserved areas. Among his many professional accolades are the 2022 Association of Science Teacher Education National Mentor of the Year award.

Annetta currently serves as Dean of the Zucker Family School of Education at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., a position he has held since 2024.

Tyler Granelli
A fearsome force in the midfield for three seasons, Granelli posted a career face-off winning percentage of .652 (674-of-1,034) and corralled 421 ground balls while leading the Sea Gulls to a three-year record of 61-6, a pair of Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) titles (2011-12), three NCAA Tournament berths (2011-13), and back-to-back national championships in 2011 and 2012. He also earned another championship ring as a graduate assistant on Salisbury's 2016 national titlists.

Granelli was named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) National Face-Off Specialist of the Year in 2012 and made three USILA All-America teams (2011-13), including a spot on the first team in 2012. He slotted on the All-CAC team three times with a pair of first-team nods in 2012 and 2013.

Andre Carter
One of the most explosive athletes to ever don a Salisbury football helmet, Carter was a star defensive back for a four-year Sea Gull class that won three consecutive Empire 8 titles (2011-13), played in three NCAA Tournaments (2010-12), advanced to the national quarterfinals in 2011, and brought home the 2013 ECAC South Atlantic Bowl trophy. A true ball hawk, he ranks second in SU history in career interceptions (16), INT return yards (394), and INT return touchdowns (3); he also maintains marks for single-season INT return average (73) and single-game INT return yards (90).

Carter is one of just 13 Sea Gulls to become an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) First-Team All-American (2013) and was the program's most recent first-teamer until Tre Price (2024). He was recognized by D3football.com as an All-Region defender three times (2011-13) and a First-Team All-American in 2013. Carter made the All-Empire 8 First Team on three occasions (2011-13) and earned 2013 Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

Anna Hackett
Hackett personified the role of floor general during her four years in the Sea Gull backcourt, graduating with the women's basketball program's second-most career points (1,802) and third-most assists (515). As a senior in 2014-15, she was the main attraction for an SU team that went 28-3, won the CAC championship, and made its deepest-ever NCAA Tournament run by reaching the Elite Eight.

That 2015 season saw Hackett earn All-America nods from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and D3hoops.com, as well as D3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year and CAC Player of the Year. Hackett was named CAC Rookie of the Year in 2012, made All-CAC four times (2012-15), and slotted on a trio of Mid-Atlantic All-Region sides (2013-15).

Kelly Waskewicz
One of the top sluggers of her generation, Waskewicz established Sea Gull career marks for home runs (52) and doubles (51) that stood for 14 years while also graduating second in hits (238), runs (199), and RBIs (180). With Waskewicz patrolling shortstop, Salisbury won four straight CAC crowns (2007-10), qualified for a trio of NCAA Tournaments (2007, '09-10), and advanced to the 2009 College World Series.

Waskewicz began her career with a bang, earning CAC Player and Rookie of the Year honors in 2007 and repeating as CAC Player of the Year in 2008. She was dubbed First-Team All-Region three times (2007-09) by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and made three NFCA All-America squads (2007-09), including the first team in 2008.

Rachel (Johnson) Wright
Owning the circle like few collegiate pitchers before or since, Johnson authored seven perfect games and pitched 13 no-hitters (11 solo) during her Sea Gull tenure, matching University of Texas legend Cat Osterman for the most perfectos across all NCAA levels. Johnson is one of 20 Division III pitchers all-time with 1,000 career strikeouts, racking up 1,073 in her career to go along with 99 wins, both of which rank second in program history. Johnson also shares the SU single-game strikeout record, producing 17 whiffs in back-to-back starts on Apr. 13-14, 2013.

Johnson was the first Salisbury player to earn three NFCA First-Team All-America nods (2013-15) and is one of eight SU student-athletes across all sports to make at least two Academic all-America teams (2013, '15). A CAC Silver Anniversary Team honoree, she made four straight All-CAC sides (2012-15) and captured CAC Player of the Year accolades twice (2013-14), as well as earning NFCA All-Region in all four seasons.

With Johnson at the helm, Salisbury posted a four-year mark of 160-24, played in four NCAA Tournaments, and qualified for three straight College World Series (2013-15), finishing as national runner-up in 2014. Johnson played an outsized role in the Sea Gulls' 2013 run, earning Salem Regional MVP recognition after starting and winning all four regional games.
