SPARKS, Md. - Women's Lacrosse's
Abby Fleishell was named preseason defender of the year,
as announced by USA Lacrosse Magazine on Wednesday morning.
Fleishell, a senior defender from Sykesville, Md., reached career-highs in ground balls (45), caused turnovers (36) and draw controls (59) for a Sea Gull squad that reached the Regional Final of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Fleishell was a key staple for the Sea Gull defense in 2025 that allowed 7.86 goals per game and held St. John Fisher to five goals in the Regional Semifinal bout at Bello Field on the campus of Tufts University.
The Sea Gulls embark on a trip to Owings Mills, Md., on Saturday, Feb. 7, to open up the season against Stevenson at noon.
