Ott posts career day, No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse takes down Washington (Md.)

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The third-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team used a 5-2 advantage in the final frame of Saturday's contest to prevail over the Shorewomen of Washington (Md.) by a score of 16-10 at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.

The Sea Gulls (3-0) trailed after one quarter of play. The Shorewomen (2-1) scored three of the first four goals of the contest; however, Audrey Harrington found the back of the net with 18 ticks remaining to cut the deficit in half.

A 5-2 second frame SU in the driver's seat heading into halftime. Julianna Ott found twine to even the score, then Ott and Grace Doyle, and Leah Doy converted during 7-on-6 play and Harrington struck again with 30 seconds to bookend the half.

Ott buried three of Salisbury's four tallies in the third stanza, while the Gulls outscored Washington (Md.) 4-3. Lauren Hackett registered three points during the segment, netting a goal woman-up and assisting two of Ott's markers.

The Maroon and Gold separated themselves from the Shorewomen in the final frame. Miranda Mears scored off a feed from Harrington and scored a free-position shot. Ott, Hackett and Regan McDonnell added in scores to seal the win.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Julianna Ott potted a career-high six goals and controlled seven draws.
  • Audrey Harrington and Lauren Hackett registered two goals and two assists each.
  • Miranda Mears and Regan McDonnell netted a pair of goals each.
  • Grace Doyle tallied a goal and an assist, along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Lauren Wunder tied for the team lead with two grounders and two forced errors.
  • Paige Ellis earned the win in the cage and made four saves. Jaclyn Bange made three saves in relief.
  • The Sea Gulls outshot the Shorewomen 33-25, went 18-for-19 on clear attempts and won the ground ball battle 15-9.
The Sea Gulls host their home opener on Sunday at 1 p.m. in their Faceoff Against Cancer game against No. 11 Washington and Lee.
