SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 18 Salisbury University softball program earned a Sunday split with a six-inning 6-0 win over No. 25 Swarthmore College, after falling 4-2 to The College of New Jersey Sunday afternoon inside Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball Stadium. Senior
Sam Flowers earned her 100th career hit as a Sea Gull during the second game of the day.
In the opening game loss to TCNJ, the game was held scoreless for three innings.
Madison McGinnis only allowed two hits in those three first inning before the Lions offense posted a four run fourth inning to take a commanding lead.
The SU offense would respond with a run in the bottom of the inning off an RBI single from Flowers. They would also add another run in the fifth inning but the comeback would still fall short.
Game One Notes
- The Sea Gulls posted three hits, one from Flowers,
Karlie Wolfe, and
Audrey March.
- SU left three runners on base while TCNJ left eight.

Carly Angstadt struck only gave up two hits with two strikeouts in just over three innings of work in relief.
In the second game win over No. 25 Swarthmore, the game was halted due to darkness in the sixth inning with the Sea Gulls well in command.
Isabella Purdy earned the victory in the circle with four scoreless innings, earning one strikeout and allowing only four hits. Angstadt once again came in for relief, giving up one hit in two innings of work.
The scoring started in the bottom of the second inning for the Sea Gulls, posting three runs.
Courtney Johnson led the inning off with a single followed by a SAC bunt from
Alayna Gigliotti. After
Madison Lepeonka and
Camille Jones earned walks, the bases were loaded.
Lexie Delcollo smoked one through the legs of the Lions shortstop scoring three runs on the error.
Johnson earned an RBI in the third that scored March who led the inning off with a double. The Sea Gulls led 4-0 through four innings. The offense tacked on two more runs in the fifth.
Jillian McTamney and
Erin Doherty picked up RBIs in the inning to help secure the ranked victory.
Game Two Notes
- SU posted 11 hits while holding the Garnet to just five. Both teams left eight runners on base.
- Johnson posted a three-hit game and Flowers tallied two. Flowers also added a stolen base.
- The SU pitching staff relied on the defense for the complete game shutout with only two punchouts.
The Sea Gulls will travel to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Triangle Classic beginning on March 6th, where they will play six games in three days starting with Eastern Mennonite University on Friday at 11 a.m.
