CONWAY, S.C. - The Salisbury University track and field teams kicked off St. Patrick's Day weekend with solid performances on day one of the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Anna Bodmer highlighted the day with a school record in the 10k, earning gold in the event for the third consecutive year at the meet.
After day one, the Sea Gull men sit in 5th place out of 22 programs with 21 points behind multiple Division I programs. Appalachian State holds 1st place with 41 points, Coastal Carolina is 2nd, followed by Young Harris and the College of Charleston in 3rd and 4th. The Sea Gull women sit in 6th out of 21 programs with 17 points, also behind multiple Division I programs. Millersville sits in 1st with 43 points, while UNC-Wilmington sits in 2nd, Coastal Carolina in 3rd, and Geneva and Appalachian State round out the top five.
Men Meet Notes
- Jair Clinton placed 8th in the 110-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 15.46 to qualify for the finals tomorrow.
- The Sea Gulls placed two in the top eight of the 10k. Landon Lewicki tallied 4th with a time of 32:34.64, and Gabe Riling placed 7th at 34:11.80.
- SU also tallied three in the top 10 of the hammer throw. Jacob Reeves placed 3rd at 49.75 meters (163-02). Logan Kelsch earned 6th at 47.81 meters (156-10), and Mason Breeze placed 9th at 43.77 meters (143-07). Reeves also tallied 7th in the javelin with a throw of 49.25 meters (161-07).
- Peyton Dill tallied 7th in the pole vault at 3.80 meters (12-05.50).
Women Meet Notes
- Bodmer claimed her third consecutive 10k title at the meet with a school time of 36:36.17. The Sea Gulls tallied five runners in the top 11. Madi Sisson grabbed 4th at 39:19.00, Camryn Russum placed 7th with a time of 40:25.19, Anna Pumphrey earned 10th at 42:18.24, while Madison McCurry placed 11th with a time of 42:22.83.
- Ava Wagner tallied 3rd in the 800-meter with a time of 2:31.77.
- Hayden Adams earned 11th in the javelin with a throw of 32.07 meters (105-02).
