Softball drops two during Margie Knight Classic

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University softball program dropped both games on Saturday of the Margie Knight Classic at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex. The Sea Gulls fell in five innings to No. 24 Randolph-Macon College before falling short 6-5 against Muhlenberg College.

In the game one loss against Randolph-Macon, the Sea Gulls posted four errors with only three hits. Three runs in the third and five in the fourth for the Hornets proved to be the difference.
Sam Flowers, Courtney Johnson, and Karlie Wolfe tallied hits for Salisbury.

The offense bounced back in the game two loss against Muhlenberg, while also capitalizing on three errors from Muhlenberg. MC tallied two runs in the top of the first inning to grab an early lead.

Alayna Gigliotti earned an RBI double in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead in half. The Sea Gulls went on to tie the game in the bottom of the third with Wolfe earning an RBI that scored Flowers, who doubled to lead the inning off.

Muhlenberg posted a four-run sixth inning to break the game open. The Sea Gulls responded with one in the bottom of the inning and two in the seventh, but the comeback fell short.

Game Two Notes
  • Gigliotti tallied a two-hit game and two RBIs.
  • Flowers posted two walks, two runs, and a double.
