Harrington shines, No. 4 Women’s Lacrosse grounds No. 8 William Smith in top-ten tilt

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fl. Audrey Harrington led the fourth-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team to a 17-11 winning decision over the eighth-ranked William Smith College Herons on Monday night at the 28th annual SpringFling event at Publix Park.

After Julianna Ott broke the ice, the Herons (5-1) gained a 2-1 lead before the Sea Gulls (8-0) scored five of the next six goals in the first frame. Harrington secured a hat trick in a seven-minute span, while Lauren Hackett buried a free-position shot and Ott chipped in her second of the evening, giving SU a 6-3 lead after the first segment.

William Smith swung back, outscoring the Gulls 4-2 in the second stanza. Harrington netted her fourth and helped break a 7-7 deadlock, connecting with Miranda Mears to give the Maroon and Gold a one-goal advantage at the break.

A 5-2 third quarter distanced the Sea Gulls from the Herons. Regan McDonnell and Leah Doy both joined the scoring party, while Ott found twine and Harrington potted a pair to make it 13-9 SU.

The Gulls further built upon their lead by outpacing William Smith 4-2 in the final frame. Avery Dunbar deposited two goals, to go along with Harrington and Hackett, who struck again to secure a Salisbury victory.
