SALISBURY, Md. – The fifth-ranked Salisbury University baseball team got an eight-inning gem from
Aidan Brinsfield on the bump but couldn't produce the offense to back him up, falling to the red-hot McDaniel Green Terror 2-1 on Thursday afternoon at Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium.
The Green Terror scratched their first run across in the second inning. Anthony Cerone singled to lead off, then after a fielder's choice Jack Morin banged an RBI double off the wall in left center. The game stayed 1-0 until the top of the ninth when McDaniel loaded the bases with one out and Shea McKenna lifted a sac fly out to right to double the lead.
The Sea Gulls had their fair share of chances, leaving runners on base in seven of their first eight trips at-bat, including stranding the bases loaded in the seventh.
Jackson Inman belted a two-out solo homer in the bottom of the ninth to break up the shutout, but the Green Terror shut it down from there to secure their seventh straight win.
GAME NOTES
- Jackson Inman clubbed his third home run in the last two games, a solo shot in the ninth to finish off a 1-for-4 day. Inman's six dingers on the year are just one back of his season total of seven from 2025.
- Nathan Tondreault reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with two walks. Trent Waire also reached thrice as part of a 2-for-3 outing with one HBP.
- Aidan Brinsfield (2-2) was hung with the hard-luck loss despite giving up just one run on five hits over a career high-tying eight innings. Brinsfield walked three and struck out two on 118 pitches while also recording six assists and one putout over a busy day in the field.
The Sea Gulls will look to bounce back in a twin bill against Haverford on Saturday. First pitch of the opener from Donnie Williams Stadium is tabbed for 12 p.m.
