BALTIMORE, Md. – The second-ranked Salisbury University baseball team couldn't get the engine going in time at fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins, falling to the Blue Jays 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at Babb Field.
The Blue Jays pushed a run across in each of the fourth and fifth innings before blowing it open in the sixth. With men on the corners and one out, Jacob Harris singled home a run, and two batters later with the bases loaded Alex Shane did the same. Two more scored on an RBI fielder's choice by William Jaun and a Lukas Greer sac fly, putting JHU ahead 6-0. Hopkins then tacked on one more in the seventh on a wild pitch.
The Sea Gulls managed just one hit until the eighth inning when
Nathan Tondreault singled and
Jackson Inman homered to break up the shutout, but it was too little, too late as the Jays got the final five outs in order to seal a 7-2 victory.
