Softball set to host 2026 Margie Knight Classic

SALISBURY, Md. - In honor of the late Coach Margie Knight, the No. 25 Salisbury University softball program is proud to play host to the third annual Margie Knight Classic Softball Tournament. While partnering with Wicomico County tourism, all games this year will be held at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex in collaboration with the Maryland Sports Commission.

Margie was the ultimate Sea Gull, leading student-athletes for 25 seasons as the head coach of Salisbury softball – finishing her legendary career with an 846-209-2 record, good for 13th all time for NCAA softball coaches and sixth in Division III. By leading her teams to 18 Capital Athletic Conference championships and 21 NCAA tournament appearances, including nine NCAA World Series appearances, she was named Regional Coach of the Year 10 times and inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018.

A total of 26 games are set to be played on four different fields between March 13th and 15th. Game slots are 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Henry S. Parker before moving to just two games at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. 11 different programs from across the country including Salisbury will be battling it out this weekend from Salisbury, Md.

The Sea Gulls kick off the weekend on Friday, March 13th, when they host the University of Lynchburg for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. from Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball Stadium. SU will then head to Henry S. Parker for four games in two days for the Margie Knight Classic between Saturday and Sunday to conclude the MKC weekend.
