Men’s Tennis grounds Catholic, 6-1

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team showed little rust following a week-and-a-half layoff, grounding the Catholic Cardinals 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the SU Outdoor Tennis Center.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • The Sea Gulls grabbed the doubles point via two wins in the three fixtures. Gurv Suri and Aron Bursztyn muscled their way to a 6-4 win in first doubles. Then in second doubles, Nicholas O'Dea and Bobby Stabile took a photo finish, 7-6 (7-1), to give SU an early lead.
  • Salisbury easily took care of business in singles play, winning the top five matches all in under an hour, 15 minutes. Suri set the tone in first singles with a 6-2, 6-3 sweep.
  • O'Dea (6-1, 6-0) and Maas Jacobs (6-2, 6-0) breezed to victories in second and third singles, respectively.
  • Stabile (6-2, 6-3) locked down fourth singles, and Bursztyn (6-3, 6-2) made it another straight-sets dub in fifth singles.
 
The Sea Gulls will head up to Metro New York for the weekend, battling Stevens on Saturday and NYU on Sunday. First serve against Stevens in Hoboken, N.J. on Saturday is slated for 1 p.m.
