No. 7 Men’s Lacrosse carves up Kean with explosive first half

UNION, NJ – The seventh-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse program produced 19 goals in the first half to cruise to a 28-8 Coastal Lacrosse Conference road victory over the Kean University Cougars on Saturday inside Alumni Stadium.

The Sea Gulls (12-2, 3-0 CLC) were forced to kill off a Kean (7-8, 0-3 CLC) man-up opportunity early. After Matt Sentowski turned aside a chance from the Cougars, Riley Strub connected with Ryan Della for the game's opening tally. The Gulls struck five more times in the first frame to hold a 6-4 advantage after the first frame. Trent Lucovich found the back of the net twice, while Della, Strub and Preston Huffman added scores to the offensive output for SU.

The Maroon and Gold rattled off eight unanswered goals and 13 total scores to lead 19-5 heading into halftime. The Sea Gulls notched their first 13-goal quarter since May 11, 2024, against Saint Joseph (Conn.). Bret Bergey, Strub and Lucovich all found twine thrice. Della potted a pair and Brayden Velasquez and Blake Malamphy got on the board during the spurt.

Salisbury outpaced Kean 9-2 in the ladder half to finalize a 20-goal victory. Tristan Plotts picked up a brace on back-to-back scores, while Strub, Joey Halloran, Rory Callahan, Benjamin McDonnell, Charles Fritchman, Ryan Keating and Nolan Wilde each added to the scoresheet.
