No. 12 Baseball stung at Randolph-Macon

ASHLAND, Va. – The 12th-ranked Salisbury University baseball team was undone by big middle innings against the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets in an 8-5 defeat on Saturday afternoon at Estes Park.

After scratching across one unearned run in the second inning, the Yellow Jackets broke through with a four-spot in the fourth. Justin Lanouette tripled in the first tally, and Jon Quici's RBI single put RMC on top 5-0.

The Sea Gulls got three back in the fifth, two of which came on a two-run single by Nathan Tondreault, to get within 5-3. RMC countered in the home fifth, though, with two on an error and a wild pitch to reestablish control at 7-3.

The teams traded a run each in the seventh and SU manufactured one more in the ninth, but it was too little, too late as the Yellow Jackets wrapped it up by an 8-5 margin.
