SALISBURY, Md. – Five Salisbury University student-athletes secured Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Player of the Week laurels via awards from the Colonial Women's Golf Conference (CWGC), Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C), and Coastal Lacrosse Conference.
Women's golf's
Krista Brosius earned her second honor from the CWGC last Wednesday, while women's lacrosse's
Avery Dunbar and
Abby Fleishell made it a third straight SU sweep of the C2C weeklies, and men's lacrosse's
Riley Strub and
Blake Malamphy earned the double dip from the CLC.
Krista Brosius | CWGC Golfer of the Week | Second Career (Second This Season)
Brosius (Fr. – Magnolia, Del.) earned her second nod of the season on the
back of her work between Mar. 31 and Apr. 7. At the Elizabethtown Spring Invitational, she shot a 13-over 84 to tie for first, losing a tiebreaker for the individual crown but helping the Sea Gulls win their first-ever team championship. Then at the Stevenson Invitational she posted an 18-over 89 to tie for seventh.
Avery Dunbar | C2C Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week | Third Career (Second This Season)
Dunbar (So. – Medford, N.J.) scored the first Salisbury goal and distributed two assists in Saturday's 6-4 win at 18th-ranked TCNJ. She also caused one of the 20 turnovers SU forced on the Lions.
Abby Fleishell | C2C Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week | Sixth Career (Third This Season)
Fleishell (Sr. – Sykesville, Md.) led the Sea Gulls from the backline, keeping TCNJ off the scoreboard over the final 39 minutes to allow SU to preserve its unblemished record and flip a 4-0 deficit into a 6-4 triumph. She caused five of the Lions' 20 turnovers, picked up a career-high six ground balls, and secured three draw controls.
Riley Strub | CLC Offensive Player of the Week | First Career
Strub (Sr. – Darien, Conn.) deposited five goals to go along with three assists, tying a season high with eight points as part of the Sea Gulls' 28-8 drubbing of Kean. Strub currently ranks sixth in the CLC in goals per game (2.71) and points per game (4.00).
Blake Malamphy | CLC Defensive Player of the Week | Fourth Career (Third This Season)
Malamphy (Sr. – Annapolis, Md.) posted a near-spotless 22-of-24 mark on face-offs and secured 18 ground balls against Kean; he also scored a man-down goal. Malamphy slots second in Division III in ground balls per game (12.57) and fourth in face-off winning percentage (.749).
