No. 12 Baseball rocks York (Pa.) for fourth straight win

SALISBURY, Md. – The 12th-ranked Salisbury University baseball team kept its hot streak going at the expense of the York (Pa.) Spartans, winning its fourth straight game, 14-5, on Tuesday afternoon at Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium.

The Sea Gulls broke the ice in the first inning as Nathan Tondreault led off with a double and scored two batters later on a Jackson Inman two-sacker. Then in the second SU kept the engine running with four two-out runs. Tondreault got it going with an RBI single, then Trent Waire belted a two-run double and Inman brought Waire home with a base knock to make it 5-0.

Salisbury put up another crooked number in the fourth on a sac fly by Waire, another RBI two-sacker by Inman, and an error that allowed Inman to trot home. In the fifth, Jake Witter tripled to lead off and Mickey Haynes doubled him home to push it to 9-0.

The Spartans got four back in the top of the sixth on a pair of homers, but Griffin Shrik punched back with an RBI single in the home sixth to reinforce the margin at 10-4. YCP scratched another across in the seventh, which SU countered with two in each of their final two trips at-bat to put away a 14-5 dub.
