VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team endured another slim defeat, falling 4-3 to the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins on Sunday afternoon at the Everett Tennis Center.
MATCH NOTES
- The Sea Gulls swept through doubles play to earn the match's first point. Gurv Suri and Aron Bursztyn in first doubles and Nicholas O'Dea and Bobby Stabile in second doubles each won by identical 6-3 scores. In third doubles, Maas Jacobs and Chase Catullo outlasted their Marlin foils 7-6 (7-4).
- Stabile dominated in fourth singles, winning 6-1, 6-2, while Bursztyn also earned a sweep in fifth singles, 7-5, 6-4.
- VWU ultimately claimed the match, though, with wins in the top three singles and sixth singles. Jed Platts earned the clincher in first singles, outlasting Suri 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
The Sea Gulls will finish off the regular season on Wednesday at home against UC Santa Cruz, with first serve from the SU Tennis Center slated for 2 p.m.
