Softball soars on Senior Day with sweep over York (Pa.)

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University softball program earned a clean sweep over York College (Pa.) Saturday afternoon inside Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball Stadium on Senior Day. The Sea Gulls (22-12) took game one 15-3 in five innings, before cruising past the Spatans (19-14) 12-4 in game two, also in five innings.

Salisbury University softball honored seven members of the 2026 senior class. Sam Flowers, Karlie Wolfe, Lexie Delcollo, Isabella Purdy, Merry Pavlik, Alayna Gigliotti, and McKenna Horner all played their final regular-season weekend doubleheader at Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball this afternoon. This class has contributed to 146 wins since the start of the 2023 season, one Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference championship, three NCAA Tournament appearances, one College World Series berth, and a national runner-up finish in 2023.

In the game one 15-3 win, the Sea Gulls tallied eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to open the game up from the gates. Wolfe earned an RBI double, Audrey March, Michalea Troy, and Flowers earned RBIs on walks, Delcollo and Camille Jones tallied an RBI singles, Morgan Moxley earned an RBI from a hit by pitch, and Courtney Johnson earned an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Salisbury went on to tally four more in the second inning. Delcollo, Moxley, Horner, and Flowers all tallied RBIs in the inning. Wolfe posted a solo homerun in the third and then also earned an RBI in the fourth with Gigliotti to round out the scoring for the Sea Gulls.

Purdy secured the victory in the circle for SU, with three strikeouts in four innings of work. She only allowed two runs on three hits. Hannah Derbyshire also tallied one inning of work.

Game One Notes
  • Purdy earned her ninth win of the season on her senior day in the circle.
  • Wolfe and Delcollo posted a two-hit and two RBI game.
  • Moxley and Flowers ended with two RBI games.
  • The Sea Gulls stranded only five runners on base.
In the 12-4 game two win, the Sea Gulls ended it in walkoff fashion in five innings. The Spartans tallied one run in the first and second innings, with two in the third, but 11 runs in the last three innings from the Sea Gulls ended the game in five.

March tallied an RBI in the first inning to tie the game, before the Sea Gulls opened it up in the third. Wolfe and March earned RBIs in the inning for SU. Both would go on to blast solo home runs in the fourth, extending the lead to 8-4.

Johnson tallied two RBIs in the fifth before March walked it off for a run-rule victory. Brooklyn Richardson earned her second career victory in the circle for the Sea Gulls with just under three innings of work and one strikeout. Madison McGinnis also added two innings of work with a strikeout.

Game Two Notes
  • The Spartans left nine runners on base, while SU only stranded five runners.
  • Johnson finished with three hits and two RBIs.
  • March finished with three hits and five RBIs.
  • Moxley and Wolfe posted two hit games, while Wolfe added two RBIs.
The Sea Gulls are back inside Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball Stadium on Wednesday, when they host Catholic University, with game one of the doubleheader set for 3 p.m. in the 2026 home finale.
