SALISBURY, Md. – The seventh-ranked Salisbury University baseball team wasted little time establishing its groove against Immaculata, topping the Mighty Macs 15-0 in seven innings to win its ninth straight on Wednesday afternoon at Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium.
Nathan Tondreault got the party started with a leadoff home run in the first inning. Then in the third after
Mickey Haynes led off with a single, Tondreault belted his second round-tripper, followed by a
Trent Waire shot to make it back-to-back jacks to make it 4-0.
Jackson Inman restarted the rally with a double, then
Jake Witter and
Conner Seeley provided back-to-back singles to bring home one run, and
Max Ehrhardt capped the six-run frame with a two-run knock to build the margin to 7-0.
Tondreault drove in one more in the fourth on a fielder's choice. Then in the sixth Salisbury erupted one more time for seven runs, capped by a
Henry Carbone two-run double and
Henry Mullikin RBI single to push it to 15-0 and trigger the run rule after the seventh.
GAME NOTES
- Nathan Tondreault produced his third two-homer game of the season, finishing 2-for-3 with our RBIs. Tondreault's 10 home runs bring him into a tie with Jackson Inman for the team lead.
- Trent Waire went yard for the fourth time this year, finishing 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
- Inman also went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
- Max Ehrhardt drove in three runs and scored one more.
- Mickey Haynes went 2-for-2 with a steal and three runs scored.
- Jack Rucker (6-0) tossed three scoreless two-hit innings in relief, walking one and fanning five.
- Ethan Hirschfeld lasted three innings as opener, scattering two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
- Josh Rivera put up a zero in the seventh to lock down SU's fifth shutout of the year.
The Sea Gulls will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at home against Cairn, with first pitch from Donnie Williams Stadium primed for 1 p.m.
