Men’s Track & Field claims C2C Outdoor Title; Women place third

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Salisbury University men's track and field program claimed the 2026 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Outdoor Championships at the University of Mary Washington inside the Battleground Athletic Complex. This is the 18th conference title for the men and the first since 2023. The Sea Gull women placed third out of the seven C2C teams competing.

The Sea Gull won the title with 250 points, 78 points ahead of Christopher Newport, which finished 2nd with 172 points, and ahead of 3rd-place UC Santa Cruz with 143 points.

The Sea Gull women finished in 3rd place with 126 points. UC Santa Cruz won the women's side with 203 points, with Christopher Newport in 2nd place with 180 points.

Men Meet Notes
  • Kai Smith posted a C2C meet record in the 100-meter with a time of 10.42 for a 1st place finish. He also earned 1st in the 200-meter with a time of 20.65. Smith earned Male Track Athlete of the Meet as well as First Team All-C2C in both events.
  • Cormac Moroney and Justin Freeman both knocked down the 1500-meter C2C meet record with personal bests. Moroney took home gold with a time of 3:52.84, earning First Team All-C2C. Freeman earned silver with a time of 3:53.57, earning Second Team All-C2C. Freeman also tallied Second Team All-C2C in the 800 meters with a 2nd place finish at 1:53.28. Moroney placed 4th in the 800-meter at 1:54.25.
  • The 4x100 meter relay team of David Akinboye, Hayden Myers, Aaron Dufresne, and Jair Clinton struck gold with a time of 42.51 for First Team All-C2C. Akinboye also earned points in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.12 for 6th.
  • The Sea Gulls posted four in the top six of the 110-meter hurdles. Gavin Shaffer took home gold with a time of 14.40, earning First Team All-C2C. Clinton tallied silver with a time of 15.24, earning Second Team All-C2C. Devlin McCollum tallied 3rd at 15.49, and Jeremy Linden wrapped up the points in 6th with a time of 15.67.
  • Andrew Osler grabbed gold in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 47.93, earning First Team All-C2C. Isaiah Rivera and Samuel Bradley tallied 3rd and 4th. Rivera placed 3rd at 48.91, and Bradley earned 4th at 49.11. Osler also earned silver in the 200 meters with a time of 21.16 and Second Team All-C2C. Rivera tallied 6th in the 200 meters at 21.90.
  • Myers claimed gold in the 400-meter hurdles with a First Team All-C2C time of 54.70. Clinton earned silver with a time of 55.92 for Second Team All-C2C. Kyrian Collins earned 4th at 56.70. All times for each athlete were personal bests.
  • The 4x400 meter relay team of Osler, Myers, Rivera, and Bradley claimed gold with a time of 3:17.89 for First Team All-C2C.
  • Jadon Gaines tallied gold in the high jump at 1.97 meters (6-05.50)
  • The Sea Gulls tallied three in the top five of the discus. Logan Kelsch grabbed gold at 50.94 meters (167-01) for First Team All-C2C. Jacob Reeves earned 4th at 44.76 meters (146-10), and Mason Breeze earned 5th at 44.55 meters (146-02).
  • Jon Alicea earned 2nd in the triple jump at 13.73 meters (45-00.50) for Second Team All-C2C. Keith Mazinga earned 3rd at 13.26 meters (43-06.00).
  • Jacob Reeves earned 4th in the javelin throw at 51.20 meters (167-11), and Zach Unger earned 6th at 46.88 meters (153-09).
  • Tristan Dutton earned points in the 5000-meter run with a 6th-place finish at 15:19.25.
Women Meet Notes
  • Marlyse Haack tallied 2nd in the 100-meter with a school record time of 12.02 for All-C2C Second Team honors. Karia Forvil also earned a point in 6th place with a time of 12.70.
  • Anna Bodmer defended her 5000-meter title with a 1st place finish at 17:56.51 for her second All-C2C First Team honors of the weekend.
  • Jenna Howe struck gold in the 400-meter with a personal best time of 57.13 for First Team All-C2C. Howe also tallied 3rd in the 200 meters with a time of 25.62.
  • The 4x400 medley relay team of Haack, Forvil, Lilly Williams, and Howe struck gold with a time of 3:58.45 for First Team All-C2C honors.
  • The 4x100 relay team of Aubrey Jackson-Bowen, Haack, Williams, and Howe earned silver with a time of 47.80, earning Second Team All-C2C.
  • Peri Nelson earned 2nd place in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:19.90 for her All-C2C Second Team honors.
  • Taylor King tallied 3rd in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.12, which was a personal best.
  • Hayden Adams earned points in the 100-meter hurdles with a 5th-place finish at 15.55. Adams also earned 3rd place in the javelin throw at 31.03 meters (101-09)
  • Kaitlyn Stevens earned a point in the high jump in 6th place at 1.49 meters (4-10.50).
  • The Sea Gulls placed three in the top five of the triple jump. Haack tallied 2nd at 11.34 meters (37-02.50) for Second Team All-C2C. Emma Christman placed 3rd at 10.76 meters (35-03.75), and Stevens earned 5th at 10.52 meters (34-06.25).
NCAA final qualifiers will be announced in the coming weeks, with the Sea Gulls sending select athletes to the Widener Final Qualifier in Chester, Pa., on May 11th. The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships will be held in La Crosse, Wis., from May 21st-23rd.
