Aidan Brinsfield of the Salisbury University baseball team has completed his ascent to the ranks of elite college arms. The local star has been
voted a Third-Team All-American by D3baseball.com, as revealed by the organization on Thursday morning.
Brinsfield [Jr. – Salisbury, Md. (Parkside)] becomes the 20th player in Sea Gull history to make the All-America media rolls and the first SU pitcher since
Jimmy Adkins made First Team in 2022. The Consensus Region V Pitcher of the Year and Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Pitcher of the Year boasts a 10-3 record with a 2.61 ERA, one complete game, 26 walks, and 74 strikeouts over 96.2 innings across a Division III-leading 16 starts.
Brinsfield, whose 10 victories make him SU's first double-digit winner in five years, has started two combined no-hitters this season, tossing six innings in his first start to beat Moravian on Feb. 14 and spinning five to take down Cairn in the regular season finale on May 1. He has been the Sea Gulls' starting pitcher in both the Regional and Super Regional openers and is expected to start Friday's first game of the Division III World Series. Entering the championship stage, he ranks fourth in the nation in wins and top-40 in strikeouts, ERA, and WHIP (1.07).
With Brinsfield leading the charge, third-seeded Salisbury will play in the NCAA Baseball Championship for the fourth time in six years. The Sea Gulls will open against sixth-seeded Endicott on Friday at approximately 8:30 p.m. at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake, Ohio.
