ST MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team conceded two goals in the first half and was unable to climb back in the contest, falling 2-0 to the McDaniel College Green Terror on Friday night at the Seahawk Classic held inside Jaime L. Roberts Stadium on the campus of St. Mary's College of Maryland.
The Sea Gulls (0-1-1) controlled the pace early, creating two corner opportunities in five minutes of play. However, the Green Terror (1-0-1) flipped fields in the following minutes, tucking their first goal at the 8:42 mark in the first frame.
McDaniel posted their second score in the 25th minute after cleaning up a rebound to double their advantage.
SU attempted to mount a comeback late in the half as
Jordan Edwards fired towards goal and got stopped by McDaniel's Sierra Ruehl. Salisbury outshot the Green Terror in the second stanza, 8-5, with five shots coming on net from Edwards,
Samantha Root,
Brooke Spadin,
Skylar Williams and
Rebecca Fairbanks, all denied by Ruehl.
