Ryan Fleetwood enters his seventh season with the Salisbury football team in 2025, marking his second stint as the assistant head coach in charge of the offense and quarterbacks. During both of his tenures, Fleetwood has spent 24Â seasons on the SU coaching staff, accumulating 26Â years of coaching experience.
Just last season, he earned Offensive Coordinator of the Year honors from Hansen Ratings, along with four All-Americans on the offensive line. Fleetwood led the charge of one of the most prolific offenses in the country for Division III. The Sea Gull offense ranked 5th in total yards for the season, third in yards per play, and third in total touchdowns.
The Sea Gulls consistently rank among the nation's best in rushing offense. Since 2010, Salisbury has been in the top-10 in rushing offense in Division III.
In 2019, Fleetwood led an offense that ranked in the top-10 in rushing offense, passing efficiency and scoring offense. The Sea Gulls averaged 325.0 rushing yards, 180.76 in passing efficiency and 47.5 points per game with an offense that totaled 450.8 yards per contest that ranked 24th in the country in total offense. Offensive tackle Tyler Norwood collected Consensus All-American honors and quarterback Jack Lanham was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Year after the season.Â
Fleetwood came back to Salisbury in the summer of 2019 after a two-year tenure as the offensive coordinator at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. Gallaudet improved from 222.4 yards per game in 2016, the year before he arrived at Gallaudet, to 372.6 yards per game in 2017 and 319.4 yards per game in 2018.
A former all-state quarterback and All-American baseball player at Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, Fleetwood attended the University of Maryland and was a pitcher on the baseball team. Fleetwood graduated in 2000 from UM and earned a master's from Salisbury in 2004.
