John DeFazio returns to SU as a Graduate Assistant in 2026.
DeFazio was signed to the Maryland Whipsnakes of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) after spending five seasons with the Maroon and Gold. DeFazio was honored as the 2024 Division III Iroquois National Outstanding Player of the Year, 2025's William C. Stiles Memorial Outstanding Defenseman, the 2025 Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) Player of the Year, and was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in 2024 and 2025 along with being a four-time All American.
The Mountain Lakes, NJ native helped anchor the defense for five seasons by causing the fourth most turnovers in a career since 2010 (212) and helped secure the Sea Gulls' 13th national championship by scoring a goal, scooping up three ground balls and forcing a caused turnover against Tufts in a 17-12 victory in Philadelphia.
