SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University
women's soccer team won its second consecutive Capital Athletic
Conference game Tuesday afternoon with a 6-0 shutout over Marymount
University at the SU Soccer Complex.
SU forward Kate Weaver led the way for the Sea
Gulls offensively as she netted a hat trick. The junior scored the
game's lone first half goal off an assist by Ally
Olewine before she added two more scores within the first
11 minutes of the second half to give Salisbury a 3-0 lead.
The Sea Gulls (5-5-1, CAC 3-2) continued their barrage of second
half offense as Olewine found Dana Passucci in the
60th minute followed by Amanda Pizzillo's mark off
a feed from Christina Eury in the 77th minute.
Sophomore Sam Asch added an unassisted goal in the
86th minute to cap the 6-0 Salisbury victory.
Samantha Phipps (no saves) started the game in
net for Salisbury but it was Kristin Greene who
made five saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.
The Sea Gulls outshot the Saints, 22-7, despite Marymount
(5-7-1, CAC 1-3) winning the battle of corner kicks, 7-2.
Salisbury will return to action at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 14,
as it hosts St. Mary's College (Md.) during Homecoming Weekend in a
critical Capital Athletic Conference game.
