SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University
women's soccer team defeated Capital Athletic Conference foe Hood
College on Saturday afternoon at the SU Soccer Complex. The 3-0
shutout victory was the Gulls' sixth of the season.
Four Sea Gull seniors were honored at today's game for their
contributions to the women's soccer program. Robyn
Bishop, Kate Weaver, Sara
Schmidt, and Erin Casey were all
acknowledged for their performances on and off the field as
exemplary Sea Gull student athletes.
Weaver and Casey wasted no time showcasing their skills on senior
day when just 4:43 into the match Weaver put in her 9th goal of the
season off a Casey assist for a quick one-touch goal. SU (11-2-1,
CAC 7-1) led 1-0 until the 77th minute when Weaver again got in on
the action, assisting sophomore Ally Olewine to
take the 2-0 lead. Five minutes later the final goal was scored by
Samantha Asch off a double assist from Bishop and
junior Dana Passucci.
SU had 25 shots which came from 13 different Sea Gull strikers
while the Gull midfields and defense were dominant allowing just
two Blazer shots.
The maroon and gold finished its 2007 regular season home schedule
3-2-1 and 2-1 in conference play. The Sea Gulls finished in first
place in the CAC and will host the 2007 Capital Athletic Conference
tournament beginning next weekend October 27.
SU will travel to Baltimore, Md. where it looks to add its 12th
victory in its final regular season game against the College of
Notre Dame (Md.) on October 23 at 4 p.m.
