SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 2 Salisbury University field hockey team remained perfect in Capital Athletic Conference play (7-0) with its defeat of the University of Mary Washington, 4-0. The victory was SU's seventh shutout of the season and its 14th consecutive win.

Salisbury (15-1, CAC 6-0) was led by sophomore Beverly Beladino who put in all four Sea Gull scores finishing the game with eight points. Beladino scored two goals in each half. She is second on the team in both goals (15) and points (33) this season. Seniors Ashley Twigg and Lauren Dietz each recorded an assist in the conference win.

Salisbury outshot the Eagles 26-12 and controlled the game from its onset. Salisbury edged UMW in penalty corners nine to eight and has taken 148 more penalty corners than its opponents in '07 (241-93).

Senior goalie Maria Ramoundos stopped nine Eagle shots to earn her 15th victory. Kristina Holland and Kortni Pedlow each prevented an Eagle shot from reaching the back of the net while Danielle Twilley's diving defensive stop in the closing seconds of the game preserved the shutout win for the Gulls.

The maroon and gold will remain on the road to close out its 2007 regular season as they travel to Washington, D.C. to face Catholic University.
