SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University
baseball team no-hit Eastern University, 7-0, on a windy Friday
afternoon at Sea Gull Field to earn its fifth win of the season.
The no-hitter was a complete team effort as four Sea Gull pitchers
took to the hill.
The winning pitcher for SU was senior Bryan
Brainer (2-1) who tossed five innings of no-hit ball and
recorded nine strikeouts. Adam Keeling,
Matt Peterson and Eric Willey
came out of the bullpen and finished off the no-hitter.
Salisbury (5-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning
to jump out to an early lead. The Gulls were led by junior
Andrew Baird and senior Andrew
Jenson who each went 2-for-4 at the dish. Centerfielder
Colin Kraus batted in a game-high two runs.
Eastern (0-1) starting pitcher Andrew Reynolds suffered the loss as
he pitched four innings and gave up eight hits and four runs.
Before the game their was a presentation made by the SU Athletic
Department to Sea Gull head coach Doug Fleetwood for winning his
200th game on Tuesday, February 20, as Salisbury beat Christopher
Newport 5-2 on the road.
SU will be back in action tomorrow at home as they host Staten
Island for a doubleheader beginning at Noon.
