SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 8 Salisbury University
women's lacrosse team had 14 different goal scorers in their 22-0
rout of Marymount (Va.) University here Wednesday in a Capital
Athletic Conference game.
Salisbury (7-0, 4-0 CAC) dominated every offensive statistical
category as the Sea Gulls out shot the Saints 36-5, scooped up 26
groundballs, converted 1-of-3 free-position shots and won 13-of-24
draw controls on the day. This is only the third shutout ever for
the SU women's lacrosse program, the first under the direction of
Coach Jim Nestor. The last shutout happened in 2000 against
Marymount (Va.) with the same 22-0 score.
Junior Sue Ackermann (two goals, five assists)
continues to add to her impressive season totals as she scored a
game-high seven points. Senior Ani Khatchatoorian
led all-scorers with three goals. SU had seven players score two or
more goals. Senior Natalie Degele scored a goal
and added four assists in the win.
Marymount (0-4, 0-1 CAC) goalie Angela Saunders made nine saves
in the loss.
SU will hit the road on Saturday to play an early morning CAC
game (11 a.m.) with Goucher College in Towson, Md.
