YORK, Pa.- The Salisbury University women's
soccer team received the quintessential win it had been looking for
this season as the Sea Gulls claimed first place in the Capital
Athletic Conference with a 2-1 victory Saturday against York (Pa.)
College before 310 on the road.
Salisbury (8-0-1, 4-0 CAC) and York (7-3-1, 3-1 CAC) went into
intermission tied at 1-1 but junior Dana Passucci
provided the game-winner at the 85 minute mark to lift SU to the
win.
York's Kayla Denmyer opened the scoring as she netted the game's
first goal at the 24 minute mark. SU answered 15 minutes later as
sophomore Hillary Grove found the back of the net
on an unassisted goal past Spartan goalie Desiree Halaka (two
saves).
Salisbury finished the game with five shots, four on goal, while
the Spartans got off 17 shots as they put eight on goal. York held
the advantage in corner kicks for the game 6-2.
Sea Gull goalie Gena Goodson (4-0-1) made seven
saves as the junior earned her fourth win of the year.
The Sea Gulls return to action on Saturday, October 6, as they host
CAC rival University of Mary Washington at 1 p.m. at the SU Soccer
Complex.
