FREDERICK, Md. - The Salisbury University
women's soccer team recorded its second straight shutout for the
week against a Capital Athletic Conference opponent as the Sea
Gulls won 3-0 against Hood College on the road Saturday. The Sea
Gulls scored two goals in the first half and tacked on the third
and final goal in the second half.
The Gulls (6-4-4, 4-0-2 CAC) recorded their first goal of the
afternoon in the 14th minute when freshman Danielle
Crowley scored her third goal of the season on an assist
from senior forward Dana Passucci. Salisbury's
lead grew to 2-0 when a Sea Gull shot went off a Hood defender into
the Blazers' net in the 37th minute.
In the second half, freshman Sarah Jessilonis
continues to impress in the offensive zone as she scored her team
leading fifth goal of the season. The unassisted goal was scored
nine minutes into the second half (56:20). SU goalie Gena
Goodson stopped six Hood shots in the win.
For the game, Salisbury outshot Hood 18-10 and took one corner
to the Blazers' two. Hood (8-6-1, 3-4 CAC) used two goalies in the
loss, Rachelle Buhrman (five saves) and Kirsten Cacciola (two
saves).
SU remains in conference play this week as the maroon and gold
travel to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, October 21, to take on
Gallaudet University at 4 p.m. Salisbury will then close out the
regular-season at home on Saturday, October 25, against St. Mary's
(Md.) College at 1 p.m.
