WASHINGTON, D.C. - The game was scheduled for
nine innings but the No. 8 Salisbury University Sea Gulls only
needed seven to defeat Gallaudet University 23-2 on Wednesday
afternoon in a Capital Athletic Conference baseball game.
Salisbury (19-1, 7-0 CAC) extends its winning streak to 19
straight as the Sea Gulls prepare to host Virginia Wesleyan College
on Thursday, March 27, at 2:30 p.m. The Marlins are the only team
to beat the Sea Gulls this season back on February 9 in a 5-4
10-inning game.
SU scored seven runs in the first inning and followed with eight
in the third and four runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Salisbury hit four doubles, one triple and a home run in the 17-hit
game. Senior Brian Camper had a bases clearing
triple in the first inning that scored three runs for the maroon
and gold. The 7-0 lead would be enough for freshman starting
pitcher Kyle Judson (1-0) to record his first
career win as he pitched four scoreless innings. Judson allowed two
hits, one walk and struck out six. Freshman Devon
Quaglietta homered in the fifth inning.
Gallaudet (1-14, 0-11 CAC) scored two runs in the fifth inning
off SU reliever Alex Duda.
