SALISBURY, MD. - The Salisbury University
women's soccer team played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer against
Stevenson University on Saturday at the SU Soccer Complex. The two
teams earned a hard fought 0-0 double overtime tie in the Capital
Athletic Conference game.
This is the third tie for the Sea Gulls this season who are now
3-2-3 for the season and 1-0-1 in the conference. This is the first
tie for Stevenson (5-2-2, 0-0-1 CAC) this season as the Mustangs
made their conference debut.
Salisbury had its best chance to end the game with less than a
minute left in the second half. The Sea Gulls had a corner kick but
were unable to capitalize on the play as the teams went into
overtime.
SU senior goalie Gena Goodson made three saves
in the game while her counterpart Brittany Ross stopped five shots.
Neither goalie made a save in the overtime periods. The Salisbury
defense has four shutouts this season to its credit.
The Sea Gulls held an 11-9 advantage in shots as both teams had
three corners each. Senior Dana Passucci led
Salisbury with five shots, two on goal.
Salisbury has a week to gear up for next Saturday's home contest
against York (Pa.) College, the defending CAC champions. Last
season, the Spartans won the conference title on Salisbury's field
as the top-seed Sea Gulls lost 2-0. The game is slated to begin at
12:30 p.m.
