Box Score SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University
women's soccer team increased its conference record to 5-1 with a
2-0 win over Capital Athletic Conference opponent Hood College on
Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium.
Salisbury (8-3-2, 5-1 CAC) controlled the first half as it
outshot Hood 12-1 with five shots on goal. The Gulls went into
halftime tied 0-0 with the Blazers (7-6-1, 2-5 CAC), but it would
not be long before they took advantage of their scoring chances in
the second half.
Sea Gull freshman defender Erin Mooney (Solomons,
Md.) scored the game's first goal in the
60th minute. Mooney's goal was her third in the past two
games. She was assisted by senior forward Christina Eury
(Germantown, Md.).
Sophomore midfielder Danielle Crowley
(Flanders, N.J.) netted an unassisted goal of her own
in the 65th minute of the match to put Salisbury ahead
2-0 where they would stay on their way to the win. The
goal was Crowley's first of the season.
Salisbury finished the game outshooting Hood 24-2 with 16 of
their shots on goal. Freshman goalie Melissa Orgera (Arnold,
Md.) saved the one Hood shot that was on goal. The
strong Sea Gull defense was able to keep her day light.
The Sea Gulls will be in action again on Thursday, Oct. 22,
against Gallaudet at 4 p.m., at the SU Soccer Complex
