SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 3 Salisbury University
women's lacrosse team had 10 players register at least two points
as the Sea Gulls defeated York (Pa.) College 21-1 in a Capital
Athletic Conference (CAC) game Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull
Stadium. Salisbury (4-0, 2-0 CAC) extends four of its winning
streaks as the Sea Gulls have won 51 straight conference games
since 2003, 43 home regular-season victories since 2003, 30
straight wins at home since 2007 and 26 straight regular-season
wins since 2007.
Salisbury has dominated the early season as the maroon and gold
is averaging 20.75 goals per game and has outscored their opponents
81-15 in four games.
Junior Kim Cudmore with a game-high five points
on one goal and a team best four assists. Three Sea Gulls posted
four point games; senior midfielder Jessica
Chmielewski (two goals, two assists), junior attacker
Beth Rhodey (two goals, two assists) and freshman
midfielder Sarah Clemmens (three goals, one
assist). The other multiple goal scorers for the Sea Gulls include
senior midfielder Robyn Bishop (two goals, one
assist), freshman Alyssa Fowler (two goals) and
freshman Amanda Holsclaw (two goals). Sophomore
Logan Bilderback had a three-point game as she
passed out two assists and scored one goal. SU received one goal
scored from seniors Ashleigh Gender, Holly
Johnson and Courtney Sorenson. Freshmen
Carrie Bay (one goal, one assist),
Mackenzie White (one goal) and Holsclaw all scored
their first collegiate goals. Sophomore Meagan
Osipowich added an unassisted goal and freshman
Georgi Porter added two second half assists.
SU jumped all over the Spartans (0-3, 0-2 CAC) right from
the get go as the Sea Gulls collected seven goals within the first
seven minutes of play. Salisbury tacked on eight more goals in the
final 18 minutes of the first half to take a 15-0 lead into
halftime.
In the second half, York got on the scoreboard with a goal by
Megan Foy less than a minute into the new half. Salisbury scored
six unanswered goals to finish off the contest.
SU outshot York 39-9, won 17-of-24 draw controls and scooped up
20 ground balls. The Sea Gulls were also 13-for-15 on clears and
scored two free-position goals.
Sophomore goalie Julie Ann Caulfield (five
saves) made the first start of her career and played all 60 minutes
to earn the win. York goalie Anne Feustle stopped 11 Sea Gull shots
in the loss.
Salisbury turns around and will host CAC foe Stevenson
University tomorrow (Sunday, March 1) at 1 p.m. in Sea Gull
Stadium.
