Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – The
Salisbury University women's soccer team picked up its fifth
Capital Athletic Conference win by a convincing margin in today's
7-0 victory over Hood College. The offensive outburst marks
the season-high in goals that the Gulls have scored this season,
their previous high was three.
Six different Sea Gulls scored in the game and they outshot Hood
(4-10, 0-6 CAC) 34-3 in the game. The Gulls did not allow a Blazer
shot in the first half.
The Sea Gulls opened up the game with two quick goals within 20
seconds of each other. In the 13th minute of the game, sophomore
midfielder Julia
Finecey scored off of an assist from sophomore
midfielder Bonnie
Sandone. The goal was immediately followed by an
unassisted goal by junior forward Sarah
Jessilonis.
Salisbury (7-8, 5-2 CAC) scored two more goals in the 32nd
and 33rd minutes of the game to bring its first half total to
four. The goals were scored by sophomore defender Erin Mooney
and sophomore forward Jessica
Robinson, respectively.
Jessilonis would open the second half with her second goal just
six minutes into the half. She led the Sea Gulls with four
points in the game. Two minutes later sophomore forward Sarah
Pfundstein scored to increase the lead to 6-0.
Pfundstein tallied three points in the game with the goal and an
assist on Jessilonis's second tally of the contest.
Sophomore defender Sam DeRosa
scored Salisbury's final goal to give the Gulls the 7-0 win.
Salisbury will play again on Wednesday as it travels to Rowan.
The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
