Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University
women's soccer team improved its record to 3-1 in the Capital
Athletic Conference on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over the
University of Mary Washington. The Sea Gulls have won their last
two CAC matches.
Salisbury (4-7, 3-1 CAC) had a steady attack during the game,
totaling 16 shots against the Eagle defense. The Gulls outshot Mary
Washington (5-3-1, 1-2) 16-8 in the game.
Junior midfielder Katie
McMahon scored the Sea Gull goal in the 34th minute of
the first half to give Salisbury the lead, 1-0. She took the ball
from just outside the 18-yard box and ripped a shot past the keeper
into the back of the net.
The lead would stand as the Sea Gull defense stiffened and
allowed only three Mary Washington shots for the rest of the
game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa
Orgera played the entire game for Salisbury and saved
all three shots on goal that she was challenged with.
The Sea Gulls will next be in action as they travel to play the
Richard Stockton College of New Jersey on Wednesday. The kickoff is
set for 7 p.m.
