Box Score GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Salisbury
University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at the hands
of No. 23-ranked Rowan University on Wednesday night.
The Profs (13-1-1) got on the board in the 24th minute, as Veronica
Rhea played home a Christine Foy pass for the 1-0 lead. Rowan would
tally its second goal just before the halftime break, as Miranda
Donnian scored off a free kick from Foy.
The Sea Gulls (7-9) got on the scoreboard in the 62nd minute, as
sophomore defender Krista
Fassio knocked the ball over the goal line off of a
free kick from sophomore defender Erin Mooney.
It was the first goal for Fassio in a Salisbury uniform.
For the match, the Profs held a 15-6 shots advantage and earned six
corner kicks compared to just one for the Sea Gulls.
Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa
Orgera played the first 45 minutes of the contest and
finished with two saves, while freshman goalkeeper Lauren
West played the second stanza and staved off one
shot.
The Sea Gulls will return to Capital Athletic Conference play this
Saturday, as they are set to host Frostburg State
University at 12 p.m., at the SU Soccer Complex. Salisbury is
currently in a three-way tie with the Bobcats for second place in
the CAC.
