Overtime goal hands Sea Gulls loss to Stevenson

Box Score

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss in Saturday's Capital Athletic Conference match against Stevenson University. The loss drops the Sea Gulls to 3-2 in the CAC.

Both teams were extremely even in the first half as Salisbury (5-8, 3-2 CAC) led in shots for the half, 6-4, and corner kicks, 3-2.  However, the Sea Gulls outshot the Mustangs in the second half, 8-2, but were unable to take advantage of their scoring opportunities.

Salisbury outshot Stevenson (8-5, 4-1 CAC) 14-7 for the game.

The game went into overtime with neither team scoring in regulation. Just two minutes into the overtime period Stevenson midfielder Allison Humphries lofted a shot from 30 yards out. The shot sailed just out of Sea Gull goalkeeper Melissa Orgera's reach into the back of the net for the 1-0 final score. Orgera recorded one save in the match while the Sea Gulls forced two Stevenson keepers to stop eight total shots.

The Gulls will be back in action at the SU Soccer Complex on Wednesday as they take on CAC opponent Wesley College at 4 p.m.
