Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University
women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss
in Saturday's Capital Athletic Conference match against Stevenson
University. The loss drops the Sea Gulls to 3-2 in the CAC.
Both teams were extremely even in the first half as Salisbury
(5-8, 3-2 CAC) led in shots for the half, 6-4, and corner kicks,
3-2. However, the Sea Gulls outshot the Mustangs in the
second half, 8-2, but were unable to take advantage of their
scoring opportunities.
Salisbury outshot Stevenson (8-5, 4-1 CAC) 14-7 for the
game.
The game went into overtime with neither team scoring in
regulation. Just two minutes into the overtime period Stevenson
midfielder Allison Humphries lofted a shot from 30 yards out. The
shot sailed just out of Sea Gull goalkeeper Melissa
Orgera's reach into the back of the net for the 1-0
final score. Orgera recorded one save in the match while the Sea
Gulls forced two Stevenson keepers to stop eight total shots.
The Gulls will be back in action at the SU Soccer Complex on
Wednesday as they take on CAC opponent Wesley College at 4 p.m.
