– The No. 1-ranked Salisbury University
women's lacrosse team rebounded from its first loss of the
season with a 22-5 Capital Athletic Conference victory over
Marymount (Va.) University on Sunday evening.
Following a Marymount (3-9, 2-4
CAC) goal just three minutes into the contest, Salisbury (14-1, 6-0
CAC) reeled off 12 straight goals to put the game out of reach with
five minutes remaining in the first frame. Over the final five
minutes, the two teams would each score two goals to go into the
break with a 14-3 SU advantage.
The Sea Gull offense was very
balanced throughout the contest, as 14 different players tallied a
goal in the victory. SU senior attacker Kim Cudmore
(Bel Air, Md.) notched a season-high eight points in
the victory, as she scored two goals and dished out six assists.
Salisbury junior midfielder Aileen
McCausland (Phoenix, Md.) scored a game-high four
goals to propel the Sea Gulls. SU junior attacker Logan
Bilderback (Arnold, Md.) (two goals, one assist),
junior attacker Trish
DiGirolomo (Davidsonville, Md.) (two goals, one
assist), sophomore midfielder Allie
Wheatley (Cambridge, Md.) (three goals) and freshman
attacker Katie Bollhorst (Severna Park, Md.) (one goal,
two assists) each finished with three points.
Salisbury junior goalkeeper Julie Ann Caulfield (Drexel Hill, Pa.) claimed
the victory, as she played 30 minutes in the cage and staved off
two shots.
The Sea Gulls will close out CAC
play this Wednesday at the University of Mary Washington at 4 p.m.
The winner of Wednesday's contest will claim home-field
advantage for the upcoming CAC tournament (April 17-24), as both
teams enter the contest unblemished in conference play.
