Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University
men's soccer team came out of Saturday's game against Lynchburg
College with its second tie of the season. The game ended in a 0-0
draw after the second overtime.
The Sea Gulls (6-0-2) dominated the game, outshooting the
Hornets (4-2-1) 32-10, but they were not able to put any of the
shots into the back of the net. Their best chance came in the first
half when senior defender Justin
Lambert headed a corner kick off of the right goal
post for junior midfielder Stafford
Chipungu to put into the back of the net. However,
Chipungu was called for offsides thwarting the scoring chance.
The Salisbury defense was solid behind the leadership of senior
defender Joe Rubel and
Lambert only allowing the 10 Lynchburg shots and not allowing a
single shot on goal in either of the overtimes. The good defense
was impressive as the Gulls played the entire second half and the
two overtimes a man down. Senior defender Casey
Rector drew two yellow cards to earn a red card at the
end of the first half.
Sophomore goalkeeper John
Vnenchak finished the day having saved all three shots
on goal that the Hornets challenged him with.
The Sea Gulls are set to take on Marymount (Va.) University
on Wednesday as they try to win their second CAC match of the
season. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
