Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury
University women's soccer program notched its second Capital
Athletic Conference victory of the season on Saturday with a 1-0
victory at St. Mary's (Md.) College.
The Sea Gulls (3-6, 2-1 CAC) played great defense in the first
stanza, as the Seahawks fired off seven shots compared to just four
for SU.
Just four minutes into the second half of play, the Sea Gulls
found the back of the net for the game's only goal. Standing in the
top-left corner of the 18-yard box, SU sophomore forward Sarah
Pfundstein ripped a shot on frame to the top-right
corner of the goal for her second tally of season. The Seahawks'
final opportunity of the match came in the 87th minute, when Yvonne
Latour put a shot over the goal and out of play.
The Sea Gulls received a stalwart performance from sophomore
goalkeeper Melissa
Orgera, as she finished with seven saves. St. Mary's
keeper Kelsey Wirtz finished with two saves for the Seahawks.
The Gulls will take a break from CAC play this Wednesday, as they
are set to take on Christopher Newport University at 6 p.m. in
Newport News, Va.
